About the Orchestra
Studentersamfundets Symfoniorkester is a symphony orchestra consisting mainly of students. It is located in Trondheim in Norway. Typically, these students come from a variety of different studies, both music and other disciplines. Weekly, the 80 musicians in the orchestra practice together at Studentersamfundet. The orchestra was founded in 1910, making it one of Norway’s oldest student orchestras, as well as it being one of the largest. Since 1992, Gavin David Lee has been the conductor of the orchestra. The orchestra has a versatile repertoire and performs music in a lot of genres. Every semester, the orchestra is playing about two concerts and some other smaller gigs.
